Cost of Reconstructive Dentistry
If your mouth is a "train wreck" where you have extensively worn your teeth, have missing teeth, broken teeth, rotten teeth and broken fillings then you almost certainly will be in the reconstructive dentistry category. Almost every patient that Dr. Allen sees, discovers that there is still hope and several options to choose from to resolve their complex dental problems. Dr. Allen offers a “Complete Peace of Mind”dental warranty, so that no matter what treatment option you choose, you’ll have confidence that you have made the right decision. You’ll feel great about yourself having regained a normal chewing function, long lasting beauty and the comfort you deserve.
Giving an exact cost for any person’s treatment without an examination is impossible; every person is different and to correct the problems that exist may be difficult and complex. The fee for your care will likely be 4 to 5 times the amount you may expect. A rule of thumb for many patients with serious or disastrous dental problems, is that for every year that they have procrastinated or didn’t take care of their dentistry, the cost to play “catch up”, is roughly $4000.00 per year multiplied by the number of years of neglect. Dentistry that works well is expensive, but everything is expensive these days! We wish that it wasn’t true, but it is! The good news is that you will have a hard time selecting another investment that can provide the dividends in health and well being, a longer lifespan, an award winning smile, being free of pain and able to chew the foods you enjoy 24 hours a day,7 days a week, 365 days a year, forever!!
Dr. Allen has an initial consultation that allows you and Dr. Allen to meet each other and to discuss your problems and expectations for dental treatment, as well as your fears and concerns about having dental treatment. The preliminary examination, photographs and panoramic x-ray is a screening procedure for Dr. Allen to recommend additional diagnostic procedures and x-rays so that he can present a final diagnosis, treatment plan, treatment options and fees for your treatment.
Even though treatment procedures required to rebuild your mouth are medically necessary to improve or maintain your health, in orderto rescue the dental disaster patient, most health fund coverage hardly touches what is needed to get you back to the healthy life of eating and self-confidence you deserve. Medical and dental funds seldom provide for anything beyond basic general treatment or preventive maintenance treatment.
Since most health funds only provide $1000.00 to $2000.00 a year for your care, this means that the majority of your fees for treatment must come from other sources.
Below are other strategies that some of our patients have reported has worked for them:
- Using Cash (5%), Credit card (3%) and Senior (5%), discounts for payment in full at the start of treatment to reduce costs
- Payment Plans: 1/3 total fee at the start, middle and final phase of treatment
- Dental Financing with “GE Care Credit” can be obtained if you have a good credit history
- Major Credit Card financing with time payments
- Home Equity Loans
- Superannuation funds
- A special Savings Account dedicated to dental treatment
- Gifts or Loans from other family members
- Dental Layaway by prepaying fees every 2 weeks to build up a balance to start your treatment
Dental care is tax deductible for most patients, even if you finance your care, you can deduct the full amount in the year that you start treatment. BUT... PLEASE CONSULT WITH YOUR ACCOUNTANT OR FINANCIAL ADVISOR BEFORE MAKING ANY TREATMENT DECISIONS.
